How to Cut a Braided Fuel Line

    • 1). Remove the old braided fuel line from the connections in which it is installed. Pull off the connectors at the ends of the line to expose the raw edges.

    • 2). Hold the old line against a new one and mark the length on the new line with a marker. Mark at the points where you want the line to end.

    • 3). Place a piece of electrical tape right over the first mark on the line. Center the tape perfectly over the mark and wrap the tape around the width of the line.

    • 4). Apply a second piece of tape around the second mark on the line. This tape should also be centered over the mark. The tape allows you to cut through the line without causing fraying or damage.

    • 5). Lay one of the taped portions of the line on the bed of the saw and slowly lower the blade into the tape. The blade should enter the tape in the center just where the marking on the line is below the tape.

    • 6). Let the saw work slowly through the entire width of the taped line until the line is severed. Repeat the same cutting method on the other taped side of the line.

    • 7). Peel off the tape from the cut ends of the line and check the line for a proper fit. Trim the ends of the line using more tape if it is too long for your needs.
