    • 1). Sign up for a Google mail account if you don't already have one at gmail.com. You can use the account for just this purpose if you like.

    • 2). Sign in and click "Calendar" to access your Google Calendar. The default calendar will appear as your name, but you can edit this. You can also create additional calendars.

    • 3). Add your appointment on Google Calendar. Make sure to add anything you have on your iPhone calendar already, because existing appointments will be erased from your iPhone once you sync it.

    • 4). Open your desktop GroupWise program. Create a new rule to delegate appointments to Gmail:

When the event is a "Filed Item" sent to "Calendar," if the condition is "Appointment," the action is "delegate to username@gmail.com."

Enter "GWDelegate" as the comments to recipients, recommends Web manager Kevin Pfefferle. That will be used to delete the messages that are routed to your Gmail account.

    • 5). In Gmail, click "Create a Filter." In the "From" box, enter your GroupWise email address. In "Has the Words," type "GWDelegate." Click "Next Step." Check "Skip the Inbox" and "Delete It." This will immediately delete all your appointments, after they are added to the Google Calendar.

    • 6). Test an appointment to make sure it goes through to your Google Calendar. Manually accept all existing appointments and delegate them. The rule will work for all future appointments.

    • 7). Sync the iPhone with your Google Calendar (see Resources).
