Children Art Work Ideas
- For this artwork project, have each child clip two clothespins on one side of a tongue depressor, such that the length of the tongue depressor acts as a lamb's body and the clothespins as its feet. Get the children to color the tongue depressor and the clothespins black. When the color dries, they can apply glue to some parts of the body and stick cotton on for a fuzzy effect. In the end, let them stick store-bought wiggly eyes or beads at the head end of their tongue depressors.
For the eggshell collage process, get the kids to crush dried eggshells into tiny pieces. Have them draw simple shapes on pastel-colored paper and outline the drawings with thick black markers. Now let them apply glue to the surface of the drawing and sprinkle eggshell pieces on it. - Get the kids to make triangles in two sizes with different colors---one of the triangles has to be about one-fourth the size of the other. Now let them glue one point of the small triangle to the center of a long side of the bigger triangle, such that the small triangle represents the tail and the bigger one the body of the fish. Now let them use a hole puncher to cut out an eye in the bigger triangle. You could also use store-bought wiggly eyes. Many sets of such fish can be made with different colored triangles. All of these can be pasted on blue paper with blue markings as waves.
To make a rudimentary spiderweb, have the kids paint a piece of paper black and then cut out a circle from it, such that it can fit at the bottom of a deep pie plate. Glue the black circle to the bottom of the plate and let the kids put blobs of white paint in the middle. Ask them to take a marble, place it in the middle of the paint and let them tilt their plates so that the marble runs down the sides making white, spidery webs on the black background. Have them tilt their plates many times with newer blobs of white paint for an intricate web. - Ask the children to draw an ocean or beach scene. Let them make the beach realistic by gluing sand on the area. You could also have them decorate pottery items with different colored sands.
For artwork with egg cartons, get an egg carton for 12 eggs. Ask the kids to cut the bottom half of the carton in half, lengthwise, such that six cups remain. Turning it upside down, have them paint it green like a caterpillar's body. While the body is drying, let them draw the caterpillar's head on green paper with markers and wiggly eyes. Paste it at one end of the egg carton body of the caterpillar and add antennae with black paper and adhesive.
