    • 1). Wipe down the wall above the headboard with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or dust. Let the wall air dry.

    • 2). Outline the shape of the headboard on the wall lightly with a piece of chalk. Remove the bed so you don't get paint on it, or pull it into the middle of the room and cover it with a drop cloth. Lay another drop cloth on the floor against the wall.

    • 3). Select stencils that are the size and shape that you want for your wall. Position them on the wall above the chalk outline of the headboard. Remove the adhesive backing and press them into your chosen position, or tape them to the wall with painter's tape.

    • 4). Squeeze acrylic paint onto a foam paintbrush and begin blotting it into the stencil. Do not use a back and forth motion to paint or the paint will run under the stencil. Continue with the blotting motion until you have painted the section your desired color.

    • 5). Change brushes and colors to paint the stem, the center of the flower, the leaves or any other part that you want to be colored differently. When you are done, pull the stencil off the wall and let the paint dry for 24 hours.

    • 6). Repeat the painting process with the other stencils. Remove the stencils as you finish each flower, then let them dry. Remove the drop cloths and wipe the chalk off the wall with a damp cloth. Replace the bed.
