- 1). Download and install the newest version of iTunes from the Apple website, if you don't already have it installed.
- 2). Connect the USB sync cable to the iPod touch, and then connect the other end to the computer. ITunes opens when the device is detected.
- 3). Click on "iPod touch" in the Devices menu. Click "Summary," located at the top of the window.
- 4). Click on "Check for Update." ITunes checks the current software version on the device, and then checks the Apple website for newer software.
- 5). Click "Update" if a newer software version is found. The update is automatically applied to the iPod touch.
