    • 1). Open the vector-based software onto your computer. (Install and open if you have just purchased it.)

    • 2). Go to the drop-down menu "File > Open."

Search for the image file you wish to change into a Tajima file. Select it. It will load into the program and open. This may take 10 to 15 seconds depending on the speed of your computer.

    • 3). Convert the image through "File > Convert" in the drop-down menu.

Different programs may go through a different process for conversion. With the Tajima program, you will be given the opportunity to select thread colors, thread count and stitch type.

    • 4). Select "File > Save As" from the drop-down menu.

A pop-up menu will appear. Look for the proper file extension in the drop-down menu. Name the file with the proper *.DST extension. Be sure to save it to a location you can easily locate later on.

    • 5). Close the file.
