How to Cut a Small Square Tile in Half

1). Measure the tile carefully to make sure you know exactly where the halfway mark is. Make a mark with a pencil in this spot.
2). Lay a speed square along the edge of the tile to get a straight line down the middle.
3). Run a carbide tipped pencil along the midpoint line of the tile. Move the pencil across this line a few times to score the tile.
4). Grip the edge of the tile with the tile nippers. The line you scored should now run horizontally above the tile nippers.
5). Hold the tile firmly and use the nippers to break the tile in half. Smooth out the rough edge with a rubbing stone.
