How to Make Wooden Buttons
- 1). Purchase ready-made wood shapes from a craft store.
- 2). Measure to find the center of the button. Mark the center with a pencil. Drill holes 1/16-inches away from each side of that center mark.
- 3). Paint or stain the buttons in your choice of color. Allow the stain to dry, then lightly sand. Apply a second coat of color and let the buttons dry.
- 4). Spray the buttons with varnish. Let them dry overnight, then apply 2 to 3 more coats of varnish. Always let the buttons dry completely between applications.
