How to Catch Pikachu in "Soul Silver"

1). Travel to the Viridian Forest. To find the area, travel north from Viridian City or south from Pewter City until you reach Route 2. Enter the large cluster of trees to explore the maze-like forest.
2). Walk through the tall grass of the Viridian Forest until you encounter a Pikachu. During the morning and daylight hours, you have a six percent chance of finding a Pikachu. At night, your chances drop to five percent. The Pokemon range from levels four to seven.
3). Enter a battle with Pikachu. If you have a Great Ball or Ultra Ball, you should have an easy time catching the low level Pokemon. At this point in the game, most of your Pokemon should be at a much higher level than the Pikachu, so avoid using an attack that knocks him out. Instead, use a status-impairing move, such as Hypnosis, which puts him to sleep, or Thunderwave, which paralyzes the Pokemon.
