    • 1). Restart you computer in safe mode. Reboot the computer and press the "F8" key on your keyboard as it begins to boot. This will take you to the Advanced Options menu. Use the arrow key to move down to "Safe Mode" and press "Enter."

    • 2). Locate the directory on the hard drive while in Safe Mode.

    • 3). Right-click on the file folder and select "Properties" from the menu options that open next to your cursor.

    • 4). Select the "Securities" tab from the top of the screen.

    • 5). Move to the "Advanced" section in the Securities dialog box. Click on the "Owners" tab to bring up the list of users on the network or computer.

    • 6). In the "Name" list, locate the new owner. Click on the name of the owner and then press the "OK" button.
