    • 1). Purchase an electropolishing tank kit. These are available in different gallon quantities and include the solution, anodes, tank, cleaner and heater. You can also buy these parts separately. The equipment and kits for electropolishing can be found online or at industrial supply stores.

    • 2). Fill the tank with the solution. The edges of the tank have metal plates that function as the cathodes. The kits provide electrical connections so that you can properly connect to a power source or battery charger. Connect the anode to the positive side of the power source and the cathode to the negative side.

    • 3). Submerge the metal piece into the tank and turn on the power. Adjust the voltage level and tank temperature to the setting most suited for the metal. Depending on the metal, allow it to stay in the tank for the period of time that will maximize the effects for that metal. Remove the piece from the tank and turn the power off.

    • 4). Rinse the piece. After removing it from the solution it will be covered with a thick film. Continue to rinse it until all residue is gone and you will be left with a sparkling piece of metal.
