1). Choose spell cards which damage an opponent directly. Spell cards and traps commonly feature this ability in Yu-Gi-Oh! Magic: the Gathering uses sorceries, instants and artifacts for this role. Keep an eye on the casting cost of the card as this may determine its effectiveness.
2). Select those creatures that can either provide direct damage or can prevent opposing attackers. Even the best burn decks must rely on creatures to mitigate incoming damage while the spells do their work. Yu-Gi-Oh! duelists typically use monsters with high defense values, while Magic players may use the Prodigal Sorceror for additional direct damage support.
3). Add equipment to fortify your defenses or further increase burn damage. Ranged weapons work very well in the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, and other games offer a variety of armors to buff your defensive creatures.
