How to Make Pictures Out of Only Rubber Bands

    • 1). Make a rough sketch of the picture you want to make on paper and color the spaces in with markers or colored pencils to show which colored rubber bands will be used in which areas of the picture.

    • 2). Measure and mark a grid on a board with a ruler and a pen. Make a dot with the pen every 1/4 inch along the surface of the board in a square pattern. Pound 1/8-inch-thick, 1/2-inch-long nails into the board on each dot and only pound them in half-way.

    • 3). Hook a rubber band onto a nail, stretch it diagonally as far as it will stretch and hook it to another nail to fill in the colored areas of the picture you sketched. Once you have all of the rubber bands stretching diagonally in direction, overlap them diagonally in the other direction to fill in the area so that the board underneath is less visible.

    • 4). Hook black rubber bands onto the nails and stretch them from nail to nail to emphasize the outlines of the different colored areas of the picture. Push the colored rubber bands down gently on the nails as you hook the black rubber bands to them.
