- 1). Fill one plastic bag approximately half-full with sand for every color of sand you wish to make for your bottles. Add two to three drops of food coloring over the sand in each bag and close the bags, squeezing out the air from the bags before you zip them closed.
- 2). Knead the sand with your fingers from the outsides of the bags to distribute the food coloring throughout the sand. Open the bags and add more food coloring, if necessary, to color the sand a deeper color, but do not add so much food coloring that you saturate the sand. A few drops will not moisten the sand appreciably.
- 3). Pour out each sand color onto a paper plate.
- 4). Place the funnel into the opening of the glass bottle and select a sand color to use as the bottom layer of sand in the jar.
- 5). Pour sand from the paper plate into the funnel to fill the jar with approximately one inch of sand.
- 6). Continue the same process to add additional layers of colored sand. Try to make the layers of sand contrast sharply with each other as you select the colors to add to the bottle. Make some layers thicker and other layers thinner, if you desire. Tilt the bottle to the left or to the right as you add layers to vary the layer thickness from side to side also.
- 7). Poke the tip of the chopstick into the glass bottle along the sides of the glass to make the sand layers drip down into the layers below, if you desire.
- 8). Continue filling the glass bottle with layers of sand until you fill the bottle to the top.
- 9). Apply a thin line of super glue around the threads at the top of the bottle and place the cap on the bottle. The super glue will hold the cap on the bottle and prevent anyone from removing the cap.

Select a ribbon that coordinates with the sand colors and cut an eight-inch length of ribbon. Tie the ribbon around the neck of the bottle to finish your sand art glass bottle.
