How to Use the Recovery Manager After a Clean Install of Vista
- 1). Turn on your computer and connect the external hard drive that contains a backup of your computer's files.
- 2). Insert the Windows Vista installation CD and restart your computer. Press any key when presented with the message "Press any key to boot from CD."
- 3). Select your language preferences and click "Next."
- 4). Click the "Repair your computer" link to open the system recovery manager. Select the operating system you want to recover and click "Next."
- 5). Click "Windows Complete PC Restore" from the list of options. This option allows you to recover all of the files, programs and settings you backed up.
- 6). Select the backup file you want to restore and click "Next."
- 7). Click the check box that says "I confirm that I want to erase all existing data and restore the back up." Click "OK" to start the system recovery.
- 8). Click "Restart Now" after the system is recovered. You have now successfully used the recovery manager in Vista.
