How to Install Windows XP Pro
- 1). Turn on your computer. Open the CD drive and insert the Windows XP Pro Disk. Reboot the computer.
- 2). Select the choice to install Windows XP Professional. The Windows XP Licensing Agreement will appear. Scroll down with the PgDn key until you reach the end. If you agree with the terms, press "F8".
- 3). On the next screen, select the drive where you would like to install Windows XP Pro. In most installations, this will be your boot drive (C:).
- 4). Take a break while the computer copies the XP files over and formats the hard drive if needed. This can take awhile on a large drive. The computer will then reboot automatically and start in the graphical mode of Windows XP Pro.
- 5). Follow the prompts on the screen. This portion of the Windows XP Pro will ask you about regional settings, time and date, Administrator name and password, network configuration, and several other housekeeping tasks. Answer these as appropriate. If you don't know the right answer, don't worry, as you can go back into the system and change these later. The system will incorporate this information, do a few more installation steps and then reboot.
- 6). Log into your new Windows XP Pro installation. If you've configured your Internet connection correctly, at this point XP will then perform an update and some other tasks.
