How to Remove Magic & Trap Cards from Play
- 1). Equip your deck with multiple counter-trap cards. A counter-trap card is a type of trap card that prevents the activation of effects in your opponent's magic or trap cards. When creating a deck to use against an opponent, place multiple counter-trap cards in your deck in order to be prepared for magic and trap cards.
- 2). Draw a counter-trap card from the deck. Because decks are shuffled before the game, it is impossible to know when a counter-trap card will enter your playable hand. Having more counter-trap cards into your hand increases the possibility that you will have a counter-trap card into your hand early in the match. Continue playing the game until you randomly draw a counter-trap card from the deck.
- 3). Place the counter-trap card (once in your hand) onto the playing field, behind your monster cards in a face-down position. This allows the card to be activated later in the game. When an opponent uses a magic or trap card during their turn, reveal the counter-trap card and negate the effect of the card. Follow the rules of the counter-trap card as listed on the card. Some counter-trap cards may require you to sacrifice life points. Other counter-trap cards may require you to remove monster cards from the playing field. Follow the instructions as they are written on the card.
