How to Clean a Burnt Ceramic Pot
- 1). Rinse out the ceramic pot as soon as it's cool enough to handle. Scrub away what you can with a nylon scrubber. Then, heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- 2). Sprinkle baking soda on the burnt-on areas of the pot, and add 1/4 cup of vinegar.
- 3). Heat 4 cups of water in a saucepan until it just starts to bubble. Pour the water into the ceramic pot, and cover. Place the pot in the oven for 30 minutes, remove the pot, and then allow it to cool and soak overnight.
- 4). Drain the pot, and scrub it with dish soap and a nylon pad. This may be all you need to do in some cases.
- 5). Place the pot outside if the burnt-on residue remains. Put on rubber gloves, and spray the area of the pot with oven cleaner. Cover the pot, and leave it outside overnight. The next day, scrub the pot again, and rinse. Wash the pot with dish soap and water to remove any chemical residue, and rinse well.
