How to Make Metal Wind Chimes

    • 1). Cut a length of invisible thread between 8 and 10 inches long for each key and bell. Vary the length by an inch or two each time so the keys will not hang at a uniform height, but still be able to jangle off each other.

    • 2). Tie a length of string onto each bell and each key and suspend from the base of the metal coat hanger by tying them on with a tight, double overhand knot. Leave a space of about 1 inch between each key and bell, varied slightly depending on the width of the coat hanger and how many bells and keys you have.

    • 3). Squeeze a dab of superglue over the knot where it sits on the coat hanger wire and leave to dry. This will prevent the knots slipping along the coat hanger wire and the keys getting too close to each other.

    • 4). Suspend the coat hanger from a branch, hook, or over a curtain rail so it can jangle in the wind.
