How to Repair a XP Operating System That Is Not Found
- 1). Insert the Windows XP installation CD into the CD/DVD drive. Reboot the computer.
- 2). Press any key to boot from the Windows XP CD, when prompted. The Welcome to Setup screen will launch.
- 3). Press the "R" key to start the Recovery Console.
- 4). Type the password for the Administrator account, when prompted. Press the "Enter" key. A command prompt will appear in the Recovery Console.
- 5). Type "fixmbr" (without quotes) at the prompt. Press the "Enter" key. The Windows XP Master Boot Record will be repaired; the computer will reboot into Windows.
