How to Increase Boot Up Speed in Vista
- 1). Turn off some of your startup programs. Certain programs, like AOL Instant Messenger, OpenOffice, Skype and countless others, are set to start when Windows first loads. By going into each of settings or options menues for these programs, you can turn off the option to boot at startup.
- 2). Install additional RAM. RAM is often a determining factor in how fast a computer runs. The more RAM you have in your computer, the faster Windows Vista will boot. Vista requires a minimum of 1GB of RAM to operate, but having between 4GB and 8GB will ensure the computer runs lightning fast.
- 3). Defragment your computer by opening your start menu, going into the Accessories folder and selecting the "Disk Defragment" option from the "System Tools" submenu.
- 4). Delete some of your files. Having a lot on your hard drive will naturally mean that Windows will take longer to load. By deleting some of your unused files, you can help your computer load faster.
