How to Get Rid of Startup Programs Automatically at the Start of a Computer
- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button.
- 2). Click within the Start Menu search box and type "msconfig."
- 3). Select the "msconfig" item that appears at the top of the search results list. Depending on your system's configuration, you may need to confirm your choice or provide an administrator user name and password before Windows allows you to continue.
- 4). Select the "Startup" tab found along the top of the System Configuration program window.
- 5). Locate the name of the program you want to exclude from the startup routine and then remove the check mark from the adjacent box. Repeat this step for each application you no longer want to start automatically.
- 6). Click "OK" to confirm your changes.
- 7). Select "Restart" or "Exit without restart" when prompted by the System Configuration utility. Regardless of the option you choose, your changes will take effect the next time the Windows operating system enters its startup process.
