- 1). Navigate to your Start menu and select the Run option from the program menu. If you are a Vista or Windows 7 operator, type "cmd" in the search box at the bottom of the start window and click "Enter" to access this area. You will see a command line window with a black background.
- 2). Type in "ipconfig" and hit "Enter." The current IP settings will be displayed.
- 3). Type in "ipconfig/release" and click "Enter" to release your current IP address. Any Internet or network connection that you currently have will be temporarily disconnected.
- 4). Complete the reset by typing in "ipconfig/renew" and clicking "Enter." You IP address has now been reset. Type "exit" and click "Enter" to close the command window.
