How to Install Games in Windows XP
- 1). Insert the game disc into your CD or DVD-ROM drive. If the game has an autorun script, the setup screen will automatically load.
- 2). Navigate to the CD or DVD-ROM drive via "My Computer" if the game does not have an autorun script. Find the setup file, usually named "setup.exe" or "install.exe." Execute the installer when you have found it by double-clicking on it.
- 3). Follow the prompts given by the setup program. The most common choices in games include where the game will be installed, whether you want the installer to create an entry in your start menu or place an icon on your desktop, and what options you want installed with the game, if there are any. When setup is done, the game is ready to play.
- 1). Click the link to the game on the web page in your browser.
- 2). Select either "Run" or "Save." Both options actually download the entire game setup file, but selecting the Run option executes it as soon as the download is complete, whereas opting to Save will require navigation to the location where the game has been saved, and manual execution of the file. Saving the file is marginally safer from the aspect that your anti-virus software is more likely to catch any virus that may be packed with the game.
