    • 1). Open the Control Panel in XP to access the Regional and Language Options settings. Access the control panel by pressing the Start button and then choosing Control Panel from the menu.

    • 2). Double-click on Regional and Language Options to open the language option window.

    • 3). Select the Languages tab. Under the section labeled "Text services and input languages" click on the "Details" button.

    • 4). Click the "Add" button under the "Installed Services" section. The "Add Input Language" window will pop open with a choice of languages to add for your keyboard.

    • 5). Scroll down the list of languages under "Input Language" and highlight Russian. With Russian highlighted, click the "OK" button.

    • 6). Confirm your language choice by clicking the "Apply" button to install the Windows XP Russian keyboard driver. The driver is installed when RU Russian appears in the installed services display window.

    • 7). Switch between installed languages by pressing the "Alt" and "Shift" buttons simultaneously. The current language chosen will be displayed in the XP system tray located in the lower right corner of your Windows taskbar, the horizontal bar across the bottom of your screen showing operating applications.
